The Origin of Castles & Gardens of Europe
Founded by musicologist and entrepreneur Sander Louis, owner of Green World Media and a passionate enthusiast of European culture, history, and historic gardens, Castles & Gardens of Europe brings a bold vision to life. In the Netherlands, Mr Louis – himself a volunteer at Amerongen Castle and Zuylestein historic walled garden – successfully launched Kastelen & Tuinen Magazine in 2020, serving as its editor-in-chief and publisher. In 2025, he served as a jury member for the prestigious VriendenLoterij Kasteelprijs, recognising the most beautiful and best-managed castle garden in the Netherlands.
For the coming years, he has set his sights on a grander ambition: creating a pan-European platform and luxury magazine that celebrates the continent’s magnificent castles, palaces, and historic gardens. His goal is to produce a beautifully crafted collector’s edition magazine, available in every museum castle and palace in Europe and distributed through airports, hotels, and cruise operators, inspiring international tourists to explore Europe’s unique heritage sites. Building on a proven strategy successfully implemented in the Netherlands, Mr. Louis aims to support these heritage institutions by showcasing their offerings to a broad audience while allowing them to share in the magazine’s revenue—fostering both cultural preservation and financial sustainability.
