Versailles, France — Beginning in February 2026, the Château de Versailles is launching Vacances royales!, an engaging new family programme offering themed activities and educational experiences throughout the school holiday period.
Designed for visitors of all ages, Vacances royales! invites families to explore the historic palace together through a series of playful and immersive workshops every Wednesday and weekend during school vacations. Each session centers around a specific theme or area of the château, giving participants the opportunity to discover Versailles’s rich heritage in fun, interactive ways.
A Family-Friendly Experience
Activities planned for the programme are crafted to appeal to both younger and older children as well as adults, with storytelling, creative workshops, and guided mediations that bring history and art to life. Themes vary with the seasons and spaces of the estate:
- February holidays focus on the Salles des Croisades with sensory exploration of artworks and creative activities like coat-of-arms workshops.
- April holidays highlight encounters tied to the 1725 exhibition, including stories of Amerindian allies at the court of Louis XV.
- Summer holidays will shift attention to the picturesque Domaine de Trianon.
In addition to themed activities, families can enjoy dedicated spaces for relaxed learning and creativity, including reading corners, podcast listening areas, and postcard-making stations.
Accessibility and Practical Information
All Vacances royales! activities are accessible without reservation, making it easy for families to participate at their convenience. Admission to the château is free for visitors under 26 years old and included in the regular entrance ticket for adults.
This initiative reflects Versailles’s ongoing commitment to make France’s most iconic royal residence welcoming and educational for visitors of every age.
